Plans to build a 10MW battery storage unit near Braco in Perthshire have been approved.

Capbal said the facility, located between Stirling and Perth in Scotland, will be operational in mid-2019.

NEC will provide four battery units that are similar in design to a shipping container.

They will be managed by SSE Networks and draw and store electricity from the grid at times of low demand and release it back when needed.
