Energy supplier E.ON’s winter price hike of 3.7% for its dual fuel customers comes into effect this Saturday.
The rise takes into account the changes to the green and social levies, some of which were moved to general taxation by the government.
The increase will add £48 to the average dual fuel bill while customers who only have an electricity account with E.ON will see prices rise by 3.7% or £20 and gas only consumers’ bills will go up by 4.6% or £37 a year.
It was the last of the Big Six power companies to announce an increase in energy bills this winter.
This week the energy giant confirmed it has started building the 288MW wind farm in the North Sea.
