Welsh wind farm transmission link builder picked

Energy regulator Ofgem has picked a consortium of building firm Balfour Beatty and investors Equitix as preferred bidder to build the transmission links for a new Welsh wind farm.
Gwynt y Môr is being built in Liverpool Bay off the North Wales coast by RWE npower renewables. Work is already underway on 160 turbines and when finished their capacity will be 576MW.
The contract for the high voltage transmission links to the Gwynt y Môr wind farm is valued at an estimated £346m.
