The US and Saudi Arabia have agreed to work together on technologies designed to reduce carbon dioxide from fossil fuel projects.

They have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for co-operation in the areas of clean fossil fuels and carbon management.

That includes carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), supercritical carbon dioxide power cycles and the energy-water nexus.

The two nations will exchange experts, engineers and scientists along with technologies and encourage joint workshops and seminars.

The announcement was made during US Energy Secretary Rick Perry’s visit to Saudi Arabia last week.

H.E. Khalid Al Falih, Saudi Arabia’s Energy Minister said: “The potential of this co-operation has no limits and its positive impact on the global economy, environment and energy supplies is so great.

“The signing of this MoU reflects one of the valuable opportunities this co=operation can avail.”
