Siemens has won a contract to implement energy efficiency measures at a US army base in Germany.

The company and the US Army Corp of Engineers signed an Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) worth €7.9 million (£7m) to install, operate and maintain several energy conservation measures at the Installation Management Command (IMCOM) headquarters in Wiesbaden, near Frankfurt.

These measures include the installation of a combined heat and power (CHP) plant, heating distribution plant improvements, multiple solar power arrays and upgrading lighting to new LEDs.

The lighting upgrades alone are predicted to account for an additional 51% energy saving compared to current lighting costs over the 21-year performance period.
