Sellafield nuclear workers plan second strike
Workers at the Sellafield nuclear site are planning a second day of strike action in a row over pay.
The Unite union, which represents more than 1,100 workers at the Cumbria plant, said employees are preparing to go on strike again on 22nd November.
The dispute centres around the 1.5% pay offer by Sellafield, which has been rejected by Unite members, who are urging the management to remove the “roadblock” to the deal.
The workers previously held a 24-hour strike earlier this week.
Unite Regional Officer Graham Williams said: “The strike on 7th November was well supported by our maintenance and electrician members, with a positive groundwell of sympathy from workers in others unions and the general public.
“I would like to pay tribute to our shop stewards for the way they mobilised support on the day. Another strike is planned for 22 November, with more industrial action on the cards in the run-up to Christmas.”
