Six-in-ten Scots are worried about paying their bills this year, including mortgage repayments, rent and energy costs.

That’s according to a recent Survation poll, commissioned by Advice Direct Scotland, which shows that among those in debt, 17% are behind on payments, with energy bills, credit cards, and council tax being common debts.

The poll, conducted from February 1st to 7th with 1,076 Scottish residents aged 16 and over, highlights significant financial stability concerns.

About a quarter of those in debt owe £10,000 or more, and nearly a third of credit card users rely on them for daily expenses.

Concerns extend to housing costs, with 47% of mortgage holders and 55% of renters anxious about meeting payments.

Additionally, 21% of mortgage holders face fixed-rate deals expiring in the next year, amid rising interest rates.
