McDonald’s has announced a trial for its first plant-based burger, named McPlant.
The new green menu option features a plant-based patty co-developed with the Los Angeles producer Beyond Meat, a vegan cheese based on pea protein and sauce.
Its launch comes after three years of research, the fast food giant said.
The offering will be trialled in ten restaurants in Coventry from 29th September and a further 250 from 13th October.
The company plans a nationwide rollout next year.
A few days ago, speaking on BBC, Ethan Brown, Founder of Beyond Meat told he supports a ‘pigouvian tax’ on meat and other activities that have a negative impact on society.
Earlier this year, a report found that if everyone in the UK switched to vegetarianism for a year, they could save the UK 37,900,000 tonnes of emissions.
