Role:                    Data Scientist (contract or perm)

We are looking for a master’s qualified candidate in statistics, computer sciences or a related profession. As a Data Scientist you will provide a data science approach to assessing opportunities and improvement areas in market activities.  This role will develop, recommend, and work with peers and others, to implement improvements to how market performance and service delivery functions are undertaken. Key responsibilities:

• Work closely with the business to identify issues and use data to propose solutions for effective decision making
• Merge, manage, interrogate and extract data to supply tailored reports to colleagues and the wider organisation
• Maintain clear and coherent communication, both verbal and written, to understand data needs and report results
• Use machine learning tools and statistical techniques to produce solutions to problems
• Create clear reports that provide compelling insight into how market activities are delivered
• Horizon scan to stay up to date with latest technology, techniques and methods
• Conduct research from which you’ll develop prototypes and proof of concepts
• Look for opportunities to use insights/datasets/code/models across other functions in the organisation

 Skills and experience required:

• Professional level of knowledge, with a master’s qualification in statistics, computer sciences or a related profession.
• Able to interpret complex data and convert into straight forward recommendations.
• Good working knowledge of statistical models
• Strong skills in analytical tools such as SAS, R, Python
• Good problem solving and business partnering skills.
• Excellent communication skills, able to communicate and influence key stakeholders and members.
