The total number of smart meters connected to the Smart Data Communication Company (DCC)’s network increased by 1,002,291 in August.

That translates to nearly 45,000 smart meter connections every working day of the month, according to the latest Smart DCC’s report.

Smart DCC says it is the first time it has added more than one million meters to its network in a single month.

The figures also show that there were more than 315,000 second-generation smart meter (SMETS2) installations in August.

In addition, the report suggests almost 686,000 SMETS1 migrated, the highest number of meters migrated in a single month.
