The Japanese are known for their love of gadgets but it seems a flirtation with solar powered bras has come undone.

More than 20,000 bras were recalled from a Japanese lingerie company after complaints that the wires suddenly popped out. The underwear has a detachable solar powered panel, worn around the stomach which is said to produce enough energy to power a mobile phone.

The Japanese division of Triumph International which produce the bra told the press: “We are sorry for the bother but we ask customers to stop using the bras immediately.”

It seems those hoping to get one of the bras for Xmas will need to find some other means to light up their life.
