UK-based service provider CWind has become the 100th company to sign up to trade association RenewableUK’s Wind Energy Charter.
The charter, which launched six weeks ago, pledges to invest in “prosperity and energy security” of the UK, creating tens of thousands of long-term jobs and affordable energy.
Since its creation, the charter has attracted signatories ranging from manufacturers to investors to multinational utilities.
“The 100th signatory to our Wind Energy Charter is a sign that the industry is uniting behind the vision it represents: a future in which wind supplies not only a high percentage of our energy needs, but provides a significant boost to our economy,” says RenewableUK chief executive Maria McCaffery.
The announcement came the day before the UK government unveils further details of its planned Energy Bill, which will overhaul the support mechanisms for renewable energy.
“The signatories to our charter know that much more is possible – and we now look to the government to provide in the upcoming Energy Bill the certainty that will allow this possibility to become a reality,” says McCaffery.
