Wind business ticked off for cheeky leaflet
A Welsh wind power developer has been ticked off by the Advertising Standards Agency for a naughty claim on a leaflet.
The Agency agreed with a complaint about West Coast Energy’s leaflet which suggested wind turbines don’t lower house prices.
The fliers were dished out at a meeting for local residents about wind power projects planned in the area by West Coast Energy.
Titled “7 Common Questions About Wind Farms”, it referred to a study in the USA where estate agents said other factors had a more “negative impact”.
The Agency said: “We noted the referenced US study was not supplied and that no evidence was supplied to demonstrate that the quoted US findings were applicable to the relationship between wind farms and house prices in the UK in 2013.”
West Coast Energy was told the leaflet should not appear again in its current form and it must not repeat the claims without holding “robust evidence”.
