A solar energy farm which will help power Honda’s car part factory in Swindon has a new Dutch investor.

Eneco has been named as the new investor in the 10MW Sevor Farm project which will provide around 64% of the annual energy needs of the nearby HUM engine plant.

This is part of Honda’s flagship car making facility in Europe where models such as the new Civic Tourer (pictured) are built.

Guy Madgwick, Director of Eneco UK said: “Sevor Farm Solar represents localised self-supply of a large manufacturing business – something that is central to Eneco’s decentralised and sustainable energy strategy.”

It’s the Dutch firm’s first solar project in the UK, adding to its 36MW collection of projects spanning the Netherlands, France and Belgium.
